Formerly known as Calle Canabal.
It is said that on the Calle de La Magdalena in a house as any other lived a girl with her family; they were modest fishermen earning their living by fishing at the nearby channel San Anastasio, today disappeared under the the sector of La Matuna.
This girl wasn't very pretty and always helped her brothers in the fishing. One day she started to put aside the fish guts of every fish she cleaned and then season and fry them to eat. This singular habit became known in the neighborhood and soon she was named "La Tripita".
On a holiday she got in her best garments and to go out put on a pair of stockings her godmother had given her. When the neighbors saw her they exclaimed: "Look, the Tripita has her stockings on", and from that they on she was known as "Tripita y media", whenever someone asked for directions on this street everyone said there where tripita y media lives. The street has been called this was for more than two hundred years.
